John Murphy

John Murphy, 103, of Morgantown passed away on Monday, July 22, 2019, at his home. John was born on January 16, 1916, the son of the late Peter and the late Katherine Murphy. John was a world war II veteran and took part in the Battle of Normandy. After the war, John went on to be a coal miner where he worked for over 30 years. John enjoyed fishing, hunting and gardening in his spare time. John is survived by his daughter, Marilyn Host and her husband Troy; great-grandsons Michael Trent Morrison King and Donald pepper; grandaughter Daniele Pepper, nephews, Peter and Robert Zagrec; nieces, Patricia Thomas and Kathy Roettger and several great nieces and great nephews. In addition to his parents, John is preceded in death by his wife Clara Murphy; brothers, Thomas and George Murphy; grandson, Michael Jason King; sisters, Anne Davis and Katherine; and nephews John and Tommy Murphy.
