Mr. John Wayne Tumblin, 73, of Morgantown and Slaty Fork, WV, was called home to Heaven by the Lord on Sunday morning, September 16, 2012 at his residence.He was born July 31, 1939 in Slaty Fork, WV, a son of the late John Tumblin and the late Mattie Sage Tumblin.He was a veteran of the United States Army and was honorably discharged in 1963. He worked for 30 years with Exxon, starting as a truck driver and retired as a Fleet Regional Manager in 1996.Mr. Tumblin had many interests and loved being outdoors. He was an avid hunter and enjoyed all types of fishing. During his lifetime, he achieved eight holes-in-one while playing one of his favorite pastimes, golf. He was a devout Christian and attended the Morgantown Bible Church. He was loved by many, and treasured his time spent with friends and family.John is survived by his wife of 48 years, Phyllis Ann (Friel) Tumblin one son, John A. âTonyâ Tumblin of Morgantown two daughters, Shelly R. Parulis and spouse David Parulis of Maysville, NC and Dianna L. Frymier-Banks and spouse Lucas Banks of Madison, VA five grandchildren, Jamie Parulis of Jacksonville, NC and grandson-in-law Joshua Ellison of Jacksonville, NC David M. Parulis of Maysville, NC, Julie L. Frymier and Lauryn L. Frymier of Madison, VA one great-granddaughter, Hailey L. Parulis of Jacksonville, NC two sisters, Jewell (Tumblin) Galford and brother-in-law Merritt Walls of Morgantown, and Judy (Tumblin) Jones and brother-in-law James Jones of Monterville, WV and many beloved nieces and nephews.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Gene Tumblin.Friends and family may call at the Morgantown Bible Church, 1407 Brookhaven Rd., Morgantown on Thursday, September 20th from 12 PM until the time of the funeral service at 2 PM with Pastor Jim Cooley, II officiating. On Friday, September 21, Mr. Tumblin will be taken to the Calvary Assembly of God, Rt. 219 S. in Valley Head, WV where additional viewing will take place from 12 Noon until 1 PM. From there, family and friends will immediately process to the Mingo Cemetery, Mingo, WV where graveside committal services with full military honors will take place.
