Joseph Edward Strakal, Jr.

Joseph Edward Strakal, Jr., 92, of Maidsville, died Sunday, January 23, 2022 at Ruby Memorial Hospital. He was born May 17, 1929 in Pursglove, WV, a son of the late Joseph Francis and Julia (Sura) Strakal.

He served in the US Navy for five years and then served 26 years in the US Army, retiring as a Master Sargent, E-8.

He is survived by his wife of 23 years, Selma Strakal; children, Carolyn Province and companion, Dolly, John Strakal, Rita Taylor and her husband, Barry, and Bryan Strakal; four grandchildren, three great grandchildren, three great great grandchildren; and sister, Joyce Jeffries and her husband, William.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother.
In keeping with his wishes, cremation arrangements have been entrusted to Hastings Funeral Home and a private family service will take place at a later time.
