MSG Junior Dixon McMillen (Ret), 86, of Morgantown, passed away Saturday, February 25, 2017 at his residence. He was born in Morgantown on June 2, 1930, the son of the late Charles F and Mildred McMillen. Junior was a Master Sergeant in the US Air Force where he served during the Korean and Vietnam wars. He retired after 22 years. Following his retirement, he worked for WVU for five years. He enjoyed traveling, and especially fishing and camping with his grandchildren. He is well known for playing country music, as well as teaching his children and grandchildren how to play many instruments. He also enjoyed volunteering at his church and Mt. Heights Community Building. He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Barbara McMillen; two daughters, Brenda (Gary) Matheny of Lakeland, FL and Cheryl Dalton of Morgantown; a son, Douglas D. (Lisa) McMillen of Versailles, KY; five grandchildren, Andrew (Carmen) Dalton, Joshuah W. (Kathryn) Dalton, Ashley McMillen (Roger) Boucher, Alicia McMillen (Stephen) Broyles, and Clayton D. McMillen; eight great-grandchildren, Hannah, Bentley, Emily, Connor, Chase, Savannah, Christian, and Hudson; two sisters, Sharon Wolfe and Geneva Gentile; and a brother, Jerry (Mary) Morris. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Sgt. Christopher Dalton; a brother, Daryl Morris; two sisters, Janet Mayfield and JoAnn Wolfe; and a son-in-law, Jonathan Dalton. Family and friends will be received at Hastings Funeral Home, Morgantown, WV on Tuesday, February 28, 2017 from 4-8 PM and again on Wednesday, March 1, 2017 from 10AM until the time of service at 11 AM with Pastor M. J. Charlton officiating. Interment will follow in Nicholson Chapel Cemetery, Morgantown. Full military honors will be accorded at the cemetery.
