Kitson “Kit” Brewster Byrdy, 62, formerly of East Gate Drive of Morgantown, passed away Sunday, January 1, 2017 at Ruby Memorial Hospital. Kit was born in Beckley on March 1, 1954, the son of Anne (Edwards) Byrdy of Maryland and the late Edward Louis Byrdy Sr. He spent his youngest years in Silver Spring, Maryland before returning to Weston, West Virginia at the age of fifteen. He attended Lewis County High School where he excelled in baseball. After attending West Virginia University, Kit made his permanent residence in Morgantown and began his career at the Farmer’s and Merchant Bank. Kit’s career path moved him into mortgage lending and mobile home sales where his affable nature served him well. He was an active member in the community as a little league baseball coach and member of the Morgantown Jaycees. Kit was an ardent sports fan and dedicated Mountaineer. He will be remembered as a devoted son, brother, and friend. In addition to his mother, Kit is survived by his brothers, Edward Louis Byrdy, Jr, and wife Crystie of Maryland, Christopher Bryan Byrdy and wife Mary Beth of Virginia, and his nieces and nephews. Kit and his family would like to extend their gratitude to the staff and many friends at Mapleshire for their care and friendship. A celebration of Kit’s life will occur at Mapleshire Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, 30 Mon Gen Drive, Morgantown, on Wednesday January 11th at 2:00 p.m. with Chaplain Craig Falkenstine officiating.
