Listen to Obituary

With deep sadness we announce the passing of Lenny Paul Hlasnick, 73, of Masontown, West Virginia on October 18, 2026.

The son of the late Leonard and Marie Hlasnick, he was born in McKeesport, Pennsylvania on June 20, 1953.

Lenny was fiercely determined and overcame many health issues and setbacks, including a devastating motorcycle accident that almost took his life as a young man. Despite having to fight through extensive rehabilitation, he never lost himself or his drive to pursue his passions and obtained degrees in both Horticulture and Electrical Engineering from West Virginia University.

Lenny was a dedicated member and co-captain of the WVU Gymnastics Team, a passion he continued to pursue after graduation through coaching and, eventually, certification as a judge for intercollegiate gymnastics meets.

An avid musician and outdoors enthusiast, Lenny loved hunting, playing music, gardening, farmers markets, trying adventurous food, animals and spending time in nature. He never met a stranger and could instantly become friends with anyone. His friends meant the world to him, especially his lifelong group of pals affectionately known as “The Buds”.

Lenny is survived by his devoted wife of 42 years, Carol Hlasnick; his beloved daughter, Chelsea Hlasnick; his cherished siblings, sisters Arlene (Troy) Cook, and Linda (Jason) Konley and brother, James (Robin) Hlasnick; and a large circle of extended family and friends.

The Hlasnick family wishes to thank the exceptional staff of Amedisys Hospice and Kingwood Healthcare for their care and support.

Lenny has chosen a private cremation and to be scattered in his favorite forest. Funerals were never Lenny’s style, and as per his wishes the family will be holding a Celebration of Life in late spring 2027 for his loved ones to gather and share memories. Details will be announced by the family once finalized.

In lieu of flowers, his family requests that a memorial donation be made to an animal shelter of your choice.
