Leonore Veronica Travinski Cyphert

Leonore Veronica (Travinski) Cyphert, 91, of Morgantown, passed away peacefully at home, in her sleep, Monday, May 16, 2016, surrounded by her loving family. She was born November 20, 1924, in Bertha Hill, WV to the late George and Veronica (Kovalcheck) Travinski. Leonore was a devout Catholic and the beloved matriarch of her family. She was a talented artist and her paintings grace the walls of the homes of her family. She also loved photography, gardening, and cooking, and according to her family, she made the best sandwiches around. She loved living on the farm that she raised her family on. She was an avid lover of birds especially the crows, and kept the ones around the farm well-fed. Leonore served as a “Rosie the Riveter” during World War II. She also loved to write letters and cards and took great pride in her beautiful handwriting. She will be missed by many. Leonore is survived by her five children: Daniel (Sue) Cyphert, Tom (Diana) Cyphert, Mark (Lisa) Cyphert,Judy (George) Scull, and George (Mary) Cyphert, her brother Donald Travinski,and sister Veronica Marie Allison. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Leonore is preceded in death by her beloved husband Glenn Cyphert, three brothers: George Travinski, Joseph Travinski, and Robert Travinski, her sister Rita Lawson, and one grandson Garrett. Family and friends will be received at Hastings Funeral Home, 153 Spruce Street, Morgantown on Wednesday, May 18th from 2-8 p.m. A Scriptural Wake service will be held at 7:30 p.m. to conclude the evening visitation. Visitation will continue at St. Luke Evangelist Catholic Church. 19 Jo Glen Drive, Morgantown on Thursday, May 19th from 10 a.m. until the time of the Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m with Father Carlos Melocoton, Jr. as celebrant. Interment will follow at Beverly Hills Memorial Gardens. If desired memorial donations may be made in Leonore’s memory to St. Luke Evangelist Catholic Church, 19 Jo Glen Drive, Morgantown, WV 26508.
