Lizabeth Ann Howard

Lizabeth Ann “Beth” Howard, 71, recently of Morgantown, WV, passed away on Monday, October 23, 2017. She was born August 1, 1946 in St. Louis, MO, the daughter of the late William Tichacek and Betty Tichacek Cottrell. She grew up in Richmond, VA where in 1964 she graduated from St. Gertrude High School. This much loved wife, sister, friend, and mother is survived by her husband of 24 years, Wayne J. Howard; daughters Amy Dulaney of Hendersonville, NC, Emily Epley (Michael) of Shelby, NC, Rebecca Dulaney of Augustus Valley, WA, Sarah Norment of Greer, SC, Julia Dulaney of Greenville, SC, and Susan Reid (Corey) of Greenville, SC; sons Ronald Dulaney Jr. (Kelly Bailey) of Morgantown, WV and Timothy Dulaney (Dana Mukanova-Dulaney) of Kazakhstan; grandchildren Eli, Charlotte, Ethan, Wyatt, Isabella, Abylay, Aidan, Andrew, Reed, Chloe, Sophia, Augustus, Ava, Madaline, Matthew, Joseph, and Alexandra; and brothers Bob Tichacek (Beth), Bill Tichacek (Jennifer), Tom Tichacek (Cheryl), and Chris Tichacek (Brenda). In addition to her parents, her daughter Margaret Dulaney preceded her in death. Beth was a nurturer. As a devoted and loving mother and grandmother, she relished holidays and vacations as opportunities to bring her many children and grandchildren together to celebrate “family.” Beth was also a skilled and compassionate counselor. While still raising young children in a single-parent household during the 1980s, Beth earned a bachelor’s degree in Psychology with honors from Furman University. She went on to earn a master’s degree in Counseling from Webster University. She founded The Journey Center in Greenville, SC where for many years she counseled individuals, couples, families, and children. Her counseling motto was “life is a journey . . . and sometimes you need a guide.” Personally and professionally, Beth could be counted upon to help guide when needed. She will be remembered fondly for, among other things, her passion, humor, strength, determination, generosity, and wisdom. Friends and family will be received at Hastings Funeral Home, 153 Spruce St., Morgantown, WV on Monday, October 30th from 2-4 PM. Following the visiting time, cremation services will be provided and private interment will take place in Richmond, VA.
