Mafalda “Mef” Fraley, 96, of Morgantown, widow of Rayburn Fraley, passed away Saturday, October 25, 2014 at Sundale Nursing Home. Mafalda was born in Morgantown on September 1, 1918, the daughter of the late Charles and Stella Pizzuto Andy. Mafalda is survived by her sister Amelia Allison and nephew Eric Allison of Coral Springs, FL; her nephew Jeffrey Davis and wife Shirley of New Castle, DE; her niece Janet Howat of Morgantown, and her nieces Elaine Newbraugh of Brandon, FL and Mary Davis of Vienna, VA. She is also survived by her great-nephews, Chris Howat, his wife Amy, and children, Abigail and Jonathan of Hurricane, WV, Scott Howat, his wife Carrie, and children Matthew and Morgan of Mesa, AZ, and Aaron Davis, his wife Jennifer, and children, Madeline and Benjamin of Fairfax, VA, and Andrew Davis of Alexandria, VA. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brother, Frank Andy; and sisters Clara Andy, Jean Dooley, Josephine Davis, Mary Newbraugh and Virginia DeCarlo. She was also preceded in death by her nephews Mack Allison and Thomas Newbraugh; and her great niece, Lisa Nebraugh. Mafalda was a long-time member of St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church. She was a charter member of the Pines Country Club and a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. She loved spending time with family and friends, golfing, playing bridge, cheering for the WVU football and basketball teams, and watching golf and other sports events. Friends and family will be received at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church in Star City on Wednesday, October 29, from 10:00 a.m. until the celebration of the Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. with Father John V. DiBacco as celebrant. She will be laid to rest in Beverly Hills Memorial Gardens in Westover. In lieu of flowers, donations would be appreciated to St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, P.O. Box 4204, Star City, WV 26504; Sundale Nursing Home, 800 JD Anderson Dr., Morgantown, WV 26505: or to Morgantown Hospice, 1063 Maple Dr., Suite 2A, Morgantown, WV 26505.
