Marguerite L. Etzel

Marguerite L. Etzel, age 99, passed away on Thursday, May 7, 2026. She was born on March 12, 1927 in Sherbrooke, Quebec, Canada.

Marguerite was one of 13 children born to the late Joseph and Leda LeFrancois.

Early in her life, she was a happy telephone operator with Southern New England Telephone Company. Later in life, she served as a cook and rectory administrator at the St. Louis Church of St. John XXIII Parish in West Haven, CT.

Marguerite is survived by her sons, Edward Etzel Jr. (Anne Cather) and Steven Etzel, and her brother, Donald LeFrancois.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Edward F. Etzel, Sr., and her departed siblings.

Marguerite will be remembered for her lovely smile, understated sense of humor and wit, her excellent cooking skills, a love of Yankee Magazine, and her 1987 Mercury Cougar of which she was very proud.

She enjoyed many wonderful summers with family at Lanphiers Cove in Branford, CT. She enjoyed her morning visits there with close friends sharing coffee and conversation on the cottage patio.

The family would like to acknowledge and thank the care she received from her primary care physician Dr. Alexia Bozek, WVU Medicine and the nurses and aides of Amedysis Hospice.
