Mary June Mcginnis

Mary Runner McGinnis, 96, of Morgantown, passed away, Saturday, April 15, 2017, at The Atrium at Anna Maria, in Aurora, OH. She was born in Morgantown, WV on June 29, 1920 a daughter of the late Lucian and Olive Kennedy Runner. Mary graduated from the WV Institute of Technology in 1942 with a Bachelor of Science and went on to teach High School in Tunnelton and Rowlesburg. She loved children and fostered newborns and provided child care in her home for many years. Mary was also very active in the community volunteering at both Mon General and Mon. County Senior Center. She was also actively involved in the VFW Ladies Auxiliary where she served as President multiple times. In addition to her parents Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Francis McGinnis, and her son, Michael McGinnis. Mary is survived by her sons, Tim McGinnis and significant other, JoAnn, and Mark McGinnis and wife, Linda; grandchildren, Mike Pasko and wife, Tracie, Scott McGinnis and wife, Kayla, Kelli McFall and husband,Chris, Stina Collins and husband, Forest, Mary Frances Tavares and significant other, Kyle, and Alana McGinnis; great grandchildren, Madison and Peyton Pasko, Reagan McFall, Olivia June McGinnis, Lucian Kelley, and Extry, Lexi, and Fenix Collins. Friends and family will be received, Thursday, April 20, 2017 at Hastings Funeral Home, 153 Spruce Street, Morgantown from 2-4PM and again from 6-8PM. Visitation will continue on Friday, April 21, 2017 at Hastings Funeral Home at 9:30AM until time of funeral service at 10:30AM with Rev. Charles May officiating. Interment will follow at Beverly Hills Memorial Gardens. Everyone is welcome to join the family in Mary’s memory at Sabra United Methodist Church after the graveside service. In lieu of flowers the family asks donations be made in Mary’s name to Sabra United Methodist Church, 1234 Richwood Ave., Morgantown, WV 26505.
