Mary Jane Varner

Mary Jane Varner, 95, of Morgantown, passed away Saturday, August 1, 2026 at Morgantown Heights. She was born December 17, 1930 in New Mines, PA, a daughter of the late John and Elizabeth (Beck) Cribbs.

She was a homemaker and former “Little Ones” care giver for Sunday School at the Apostolic Gospel Church in Washington, PA and attended Riverside Apostolic Church in Morgantown, WV. In her free time, she enjoyed working in her flower garden and watching old Westerns on television.

She is survived by her children, William “Bill” Bash, Linda Russell (Tim), and Myron Bash; grandchildren, Brian Bash (Nakisha) and Michelle Bash (Danny Sager); great-grandchildren, Paige Bash, Danny Sager, III, Mason Sager, and Maverick Sager; step grandchild, Matthew Varner (Danielle); step great-grandchildren, Morgan Varner, Mason Varner, and Maverick Varner; and special friends, Gayle Gillespie and Shirley Sullenberger. She is also survived by her special caregiver who became part of our family, Brynn Veldhuis and her cat, Piper.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her former husband, Kenneth Bash and spouse, Fred E. Varner.

Friends and family will be received at Hastings Funeral Home, 153 Spruce St., Morgantown, on Thursday, August 6th from 11:00am until the time of the funeral service at 12:00pm with Brother Nathaniel Gillespie officiating. Interment will follow at East Oak Grove Cemetery.
