Melvin Ralph Grimes, 82, of Morgantown went to be with the Lord Sunday, August 30, 2015, at Ruby Memorial Hospital. He was born in Morgantown on October 22, 1932, the son of the late Ralph Parker Grimes and the late Gladys May (Johnson) Grimes. He was a U. S. Navy veteran having served during the Korean Conflict. Melvin retired from the Pittsburgh Crucible Steel Company in Midland, Pennsylvania. He enjoyed playing cards, horseshoes and spending time outdoors in the sun. He was an avid Mountaineer and Pittsburgh Steeler fan. Melvin is survived by his children, Michael Grimes of East Liverpool, OH, Ronnie Grimes of Morgantown, Carol Whisner (Vince) of Morgantown, Oneil Gribble (George) of Pisgah, WV, Cindy Farmer (Scott) of Salem, OH, Craig Buzzard of Morgantown and Donnie Buzzard of Masontown; 33 grandchildren and 54 great-grandchildren; sister, Shirley A. Blosser of Morgantown and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by daughters, Kim Humphrey and Becky Husk; brothers, James, Larry, Jerry, Gary Grimes; sisters Joyce Giles and Iva Lou Grimes. Family and friends will be received at Hastings Funeral Home, 153 Spruce Street, Morgantown Thursday, September 3rd from 2-4 and 6-8 P.M.. Visitation will continue on Friday, September 4th from 10:00a.m.until the time of the funeral service at 11:00a.m.with Pastor Lynda Masters officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Union Cemetery.
