Michael Robert Powell

Michael Robert Powell, Sr., 58, of Monongah, passed away peacefully on Monday, December 19th at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh. He was born September 7, 1958 in Morgantown, a son of the late John Powell and Margaret (Hilling) Powell. He was a truck driver for Woodford Oil and enjoyed old cars and spending time with his family. He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Susan Vanfosson Powell; children, Judy Mathess (Steve), Jenny Rowe (Billy Bedilion), Michael Powell, Jr.; grandchildren, Emmie, Gabe, Hunter, and Paige; brother, Terry Powell (Linda) of Tuscon, AZ; uncle, Fred Powell; in-laws, Patty and Tim Domico, Russ Vanfosson, Keith Hoffman, Bobbie Powell, and Shirley Powell; and very good friends, Durwood Dalton and Sonny Martin. He is also survived by his pet dog, Buddy. In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by siblings, Johnny, Roger, Larry, and Sandy Powell. Friends and family will be received at Nicholson Chapel Church, Summers School Rd., Morgantown, on Thursday, December 22nd from 3-9 pm and Friday, December 23rd from 1 PM until the time of the funeral service at 2 PM with Pastor Jason Sheffstall officiating. In keeping with his wishes, following the funeral, cremation services will be provided by Hastings Funeral Home, Omega Crematory.
