Mike Kostak

Mike Kostak, age 95, of Pursglove, WV, passed away at his residence on Friday, May 16, 2025. He was born in Nemacolin, PA on July 4, 1929, the son of the late John and Julia Borsas Kostak.

He was a member of St. Francis de Sales Roman Catholic Church. Mike was a Corporal in the US Army serving during the Korean conflict and was a member of the 289th US Army Band.

Mike retired as a policeman from the District of Columbia Metropolitan Police Department, Washington DC, and was a member of the DC Police Band.

He enjoyed gardening, music, and playing golf.

Mike is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Margaret Przywara Kostak; one son, John Michael Kostak and his wife, Darlene DeCardo Kostak, of Morgantown; four grandchildren, Jennifer, Brent, Andrea and Carol; two great grandchildren, Holden and Ezra; one sister, Juliua Plasko of Nemacolin, PA and five nieces and two nephews.

In addition to his parent, Mike was preceded in death by two brothers, John Kostak, Jr., and George Kostak and two sisters, Mary Mayhew and Ann Foor.

Family and friends will be received at Hastings Funeral Home, 153 Spruce St., Morgantown, WV on Wednesday, May 21st from 4-8 PM. The visitation will continue at St. Francis de Sale Catholic Church, 1 Guthrie Lane, Morgantown, on Thursday, May 22nd from 10 AM until the Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM with Rev. Msgr. Anthony Cincinnati, S.T.D. as celebrant.

Interment will take place later on Thursday at Greene County Memorial Park, 1003 Jefferson Street, Waynesburg, PA.
