Norman Clifford Welch

Norman “Buddy” Welch, 77, of Westover, died Thursday, April 20, 2017 at Mapleshire Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. He was born March 10, 1940 in Maidsville, WV, a son of the late William “Bill” H. Welch and Mary “May” (Ray) Welch. Mr. Welch was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church and retired as a coal miner from Consol Energy. He also served his country in the United States Army. He is survived by his son, John Welch and his wife Christy; daughters, Melissa Welch and Amy Guminey and her husband Jay and four grandchildren. He is also survived by siblings, Catherine “Annie” Welch Crawford and Kathleen “Kathy” Swartzentruber. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Reed Welch; siblings, Bill Welch, Ada Mae Bellay, and Susie Q. Welch. Friends and family will be received at Hastings Funeral Home, 153 Spruce St., Morgantown, on Sunday, April 23rd from 1 PM until the time of the funeral service at 3 PM with Pastor Doug Strother officiating. A graveside committal service will take place at the Garrett County Memorial Gardens in Oakland, MD on Monday, April 24th at 11 AM.
