Quentine Belle Petitte, 91, of Westover passed away Wednesday, April 13, 2016 in Morgantown surrounded by her family. She was born in Curtin, WV on June 5, 1924, the daughter of Eldred E. and Vera (Clevenger) Quisenberry. Quentine spent her youth in Grant Town and graduated from Fairview High School. The following year she graduated from Business College in Bowling Green, KY and moved to Cleveland, OH, while there she worked as a secretary participating in the War Effort. In 1945 she married Melio “Scrappy” Petitte and moved to Fort Belvoir, VA where she continued working on the base as a secretary. In 1950 she became the bookkeeper for Petitte Mining and in 1960 she became a co-owner of Irene’s Dress Shop in downtown Morgantown. Later she spent her time as a property owner and landlord. Quentine was a member of St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church. She was also a member of BPW – Business and Professional Women’s Club, Quota Club, Morgantown Downtown Action Committee, Westover Civic Club, Westover Women’s Club, the Fair Heights Garden Club, and Queen Mother of the Westover Red Hatters. She was very active in the Westside Senior Center. She is survived by several nieces and nephews including: Janice Hoffman, Victoria Conner, Sandy Guseman, Mary Lou Kopnski, and a special nephew, Emelio Petitte. Along with brother-in-law Chuck Loudin and sister-in-law Karen Quisenberry. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Melio, her brothers Jimmy (Rose), Freddy, and David Quisenberry; sisters and their spouses Margie (Henry) Hoffman, June Loudin, and Patty (Pete) Cogar. Family and friends will be received at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, One Guthrie Lane, Morgantown, on Sunday April 17th from 4 – 6 p.m. and on Monday, April 18th from 10 a.m. until the Mass of Christian Burial begins at 11 a.m. with Fr. Patsy Iaquinta as celebrant. Interment will follow at Beverly Hills Memorial Gardens. Donations may be made in Quentine’s memory to Morgantown Hospice, 1063 Maple Drive #2B, Morgantown, WV 26505 or to Hospice Care Corp., P.O. Box 760, Arthurdale, WV 26520.
