Rachel Anne Hagedorn, a respected entrepreneur and devoted matriarch, peacefully passed away on Tuesday, January 13, 2026, at the age of 93. Born on December 18, 1932, in Paden City, West Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Dougall and Edith (Sims) Martin.

Rachel and her late husband, Bill Hagedorn, were the visionary founders of Hagedorn’s LP Gas Service, a cornerstone of the Morgantown business community since the 1960s. An avid baker and an enthusiastic collector of cookbooks, she found great joy in the culinary arts. She had a genuine love of shopping and delighted in finding the perfect gift for others. Above all, Rachel’s greatest fulfillment came from her time shared with family.

Rachel is survived by son, Randy Hagedorn and his wife, Becky, and their children, Kris, Matthew, and Holly; son, Tim Hagedorn and his wife, Pam, and their children, Tim, Jr., and Luke Hagedorn, and Adrian Simms; daughter, Cathy Sue Hagedorn and her children, Robbie, Emily, Tyler, Jonathan, Christopher, and Michael Lazzell; and 16 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Rachel was preceded in death by her husband, Roy (Bill) Hagedorn; and her siblings, Lee Martin, Betty Castle, Keith Martin, Norma Jean Brass, and Dougall C. Martin, Jr.

In accordance with Rachel’s wishes, a private service will be held at a later date. The family has entrusted Hastings Funeral Home with the arrangements. Condolences may be sent to the family online at www.hastingsfuneralhome.com
