Raymond Prudnick, Sr., 83, of Star City, passed away peacefully at his home on February 25, 2017, surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Star City on July 20, 1933, a son of the late Anna Tinsky Prudnick and Paul Prudnick, Sr. Ray attended St. Francis Grade School, graduated from St. Francis High School, and enlisted in the US Navy where he served on the USS Rodman from 1952-1956. Upon completing his military service, he attended West Virginia University, and then went to work in the banking and finance industry for Beneficial Finance Corporation and Huntington Banks from which he retired in 1996. He married Mary Lou Zator Prudnick in 1961. In addition to his wife of 55 years, he is survived by five children; Stanley and wife Cindy of Oakland, MD, Raymond, Jr. and wife Christy of Charleston, WV, Ricky of Morgantown, Rachelle of Star City, Michelle of Star City; nine grandchildren, Marci, Staci, Ashley, Colton, Brody, Andrew, Tyler, William, and Audrie; 8 great-grandchildren; and one brother, Ralph, of Seattle, WA. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brothers, Paul, Jr. (Shorty), Joseph, and Edward; and one beloved great-grandchild, “Little Angel” Julia. Friends and family will be received at St. Mary Roman Catholic Church, 3334B University Ave., Morgantown, on Monday, February 27th from 4-7 and again on Tuesday, February 28th from 9 AM until the Mass of Christian Burial at 11 AM with Father John V. DiBacco as celebrant. A private committal service with full military honors will be conducted at the West Virginia National Cemetery at a date yet to be determined.
