Richard Allen Vanaman, Sr.

Richard Allen Vanaman, Sr., 76, of Morgantown, passed away on Tuesday, May 19, 2026, at JW Ruby Memorial Hospital. He was born in Morgantown, WV, on March 28, 1950, a son of the late Clarence Spencer and Elsie Mae (O’Haver) Vanaman.

Richard worked as a Retail Equipment Servicer in the grocery industry and was a proud veteran. He loved working outside as well as tinkering around. He was a loving and caring father, and was known to be a good steward of his property for his family. One of his favorite hobbies was shooting pool of which he was known to be an exceptional player. Richard excelled in high school sports at Morgantown High School and was an avid WVU sports fan.

Those left to cherish his memories include his children, Richard Allen Vanaman, Jr., Ryan Lee Vanaman and Daniel Lee Murray (Natalie); seven grandchildren and one great grandchild; brother, James Vanaman (Karen); nephew, James Vanaman (Cindy) and their children, Spencer and Sienna; niece, Michelle Vanaman Sivak (Ralph) and their children, Cheyenne Brooke Sivak and Taylor Rachelle Pupping. He will be missed by the family dogs which he loved dearly.

Cremation arrangements have been entrusted to Hastings Funeral Home.

Friends and family will be received at Hastings Funeral Home, 153 Spruce St., Morgantown, on Thursday, June 11th from 5:00pm t0 7:00pm.
