Professor Emeritus Robert Gruber Diener died June 24, 2009 in Morgantown at the age of 71.He was born April 12, 1938 in Brookville, PA a son of the late George H. and Wilda R. Diener. He is survived by his wife, Nancy Lee Diener, his daughter, Mary Ellen Diener, son-in-law, Nico Agostino, grandson Ryan Agostino of Olney, MD., and his brother, George H. Diener of Columbus, OH.He was preceded in death by an infant brother, David Franklin Diener in 1937 and an infant daughter, Elizabeth Ann Diener in 1967.Dr. Diener received a B.S. 1960 and M.S. 1963 in Agricultural Engineering at The Pennsylvania State University and a Ph.D. in Agricultural Engineering at Michigan State University 1966.During his professional career, Dr. Diener was a Test and Development Engineer at the International Harvester Farm Equipment Research and Engineering Center at Hinsdale, IL. He later served as a Professor of Agricultural Engineering at Michigan State University. In 1968 he was employed as a Professor of Agricultural Engineering at West Virginia University and served in this position with distinction until his retirement as Professor Emeritus in 2001. Dr. Diener was a member of numerous professional and honorary societies. He has received awards for outstanding teaching, research and service. He was the holder of two U.S. and International patents. He was a registered Professor Engineer licensed both in West Virginia and Pennsylvania.Dr. Dienerâs wishes for cremation have been honored and a private ceremony will be held by the family on the Breezemont Farm in Brookville, PA.Contributions in Dr. Dienerâs memory may be made to the American Tinnitus Association, Unit 20, P.
