Robert O. Peters, 87, of Rolling Hills Village, Morgantown, passed away on Thursday, December 3, 2009, at Ruby Memorial Hospital. Robert was born in Chesapeake, WV, on December 14, 1921, the son of the late William Ernest and Bessie Jarrell Peters. He was a member of the Senior Monongalians and The Chesapeake Volunteer Fire Dept. He was an avid fan of Mountaineer football and basketball. He was a veteran of World War II and a proud member of the Disabled American Veterans (DAV). Robert is survived by two daughters and their spouses, Sherry and Dennis Bartlett of Manassas, VA, and Barbara and Ralph Chapman of Colorado Springs, CO three grandchildren, Stacy Cox of London, England, Lynette Ryan and husband, Clifford, of Colorado Springs, CO, and Christopher Chapman and wife, Amanda, of Colorado Springs, CO, two great-grandchildren, Christian Ryan and Katie Ryan, both of Colorado Springs, CO, one sister, Gladys Barnett of Elyria, OH, as well as many nieces and nephews. Also, a special thanks to Dr. John France, Dr. Alvin Moss, and all the staff at Ruby Memorial Hospital, Especially the Skilled Nurses Unit and ICU units. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Geraldine L. Peters and a brother, Herbert Dempsey Peters. Family and friends will be received at Hastings Funeral Home, 153 Spruce St., Morgantown, from 4-6pm on Saturday, December 5, and from 2-3pm on Sunday, December 6. A funeral service will be held in the funeral home at 3pm Sunday, with Pastor Junius Lewis officiating. Burial will follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery.
