Rodney Lee Bachman

Rodney Lee Bachman, 70, of Masontown, passed away Wednesday, January 11, 2017, at Monongalia General Hospital in Morgantown, WV. He was born in Butler on July 18, 1946, the son of the late Janice (Bachman) Olexsak. Rodney served in the Navy from 1964 to 1967 where he attended legal school for court reporting. He served as a court reporter in Marion, Harrison, and Monogalia Counties with a career spanning almost 30 years. He coached numerous Little League teams in Marion County leading teams to multiple championships. He was an avid golfer, and had made two hole-in-one shots at Green Hills Country club. Rodney loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and his Haelia-bug. He is survived by his wife, Barbara (Dillsworth) Bachman, 7 children: Rodney, Ray, Justin (Ashley), Jason, Rachael Bachman, Melissa Harrison, Ronnie Melchek; 11 grandchildren; sister Patricia (Paul) Turk; step-brothers, Michael and Patrick Olexsak; goddaughter Heather; and his dog Sparky. In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by his brother, Timothy Olexsak,step-father, Michael Olexsak, and a grandson. Friends and family will be received Saturday, January 14th at Hastings Funeral Home, 153 Spruce St., Morgantown, from 1 p.m. until the time of the service at 3 p.m. with Pastor Dan Meadows officiating.
