Russell Earnest Garletts

Russell Garletts, 96, of Morgantown, passed away Sunday, June 21, 2026 at his home. He was born February 27, 1930 in Morgantown, son of the late Earnest and Rose (Sodmick) Garletts.

Mr. Garletts served his country in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict and also served for 35 years on the Morgantown Police Reserve. He worked for many years before his retirement at West Virginia University as a Maintenance Worker. He formerly enjoyed hunting and spending time outside on his porch swing and he especially enjoyed watching Westerns on television.

He is survived by his wife of 72 years, Elettra Ann (Dafonzo) Garletts; sons, Edward R. Garletts and Keith A. Garletts; son-in-law, Roger L. Jefferys; daughter-in-law, Becky Garletts; granddaughters, Dr. Chasity Garletts McCabe (Aaron) and Pam Cox; and grandsons, Roger Jefferys, II, Benjamin Jefferys (Rose), Keith Garletts, Adam Marcum and Chris Marcum. He also leaves behind his dog, Koa and many other family and friends.

In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by his daughter, Debra Jefferys; son, Michael Garletts; grandson, James Cody Jefferys; grandparents, Edward and Mary Garletts; and brother, George Garletts.

Friends and family will be received at Hastings Funeral Home, 153 Spruce St., Morgantown on Friday, June 26th from 5-8 PM and again on Saturday, June 27th from 10 AM until the time of the funeral service at 11:00 AM with Pastor Donna Dalton officiating.
