Russell Gene Wise (Rusty) 63, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Tuesday, October 6, 2026, at Ruby Memorial Hospital. He was born on August 6, 1963, in Alliance Ohio to the late John Harold and Anna Jean (nee Wilson) Wise.
He graduated from Morgantown High School. He worked at the family-owned business Wilson Works (formerly Wilson Equipment and Repair) starting after graduating high school, proudly working there 40 + years until retirement.
He was known for his humor and love of joking, his competitive spirit in archery and rifle competitions, and his deep love for his family. He enjoyed the outdoors, hunting and fishing, staying active, and especially cherished bike rides with his wife and the time spent making memories with those he loved.
He is survived by his loving wife of 36 years Rebecca Wise; two daughters, Jessica Wise and Samantha Peralta and her husband Peter and Russell’s soon-to-be-born grandchild, whom he was eagerly anticipating; seven siblings, Sheila A Wise; John H Wise, Jr. and his wife Darlina; Nancy Cutlip; Tom Wise; Debra Wise; C.P. Shultz and wife Vicki; and Kim Larew; as well as many nieces, nephews, and cherished friends.
In addition to his parents, Rusty was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents John R. U. Wise and Hazel E (nee Durbin) Wise; his maternal grandparents Marvin E. Wilson and Lula C (nee Frame) Wilson; a brother-in-law Donald Cutlip and sister-in-law Nancy Jo Wise.
He was truly one of a kind, funny, tough, resilient and a fighter until the end. He loved his family and friends deeply and was looking forward to becoming a grandfather.
In keeping with his wishes, there will be no public services. He has chosen to donate his body to science, to help others even after his passing. A private celebration of life will be held with close family and friends.
