Thomas Morgan Harman, Sr.

Thomas Morgan Harman, Sr., 82, of Morgantown, passed away on Wednesday, February 16, 2022, at Ruby Memorial Hospital.

Tom was born on September 8, 1939, the son of the late Pierpont (Dutch) and Adelaide Harman.

A long time resident of Dug Hill Road in Sabraton, Tom was a retired union carpenter who worked on numerous projects in the area, including such local landmarks as the PRT, Mountaineer Field and the WVU Coliseum, where he lost his index finger. Tom was an avid sports fan, playing in local community baseball, softball and basketball leagues for several decades. His love of baseball led him and his sons to coaching Odd Fellows youth baseball team for nearly 40 years. This long association resulted in Tom joining the IOOF Lodge Number 10. In later years, Tom became an avid golfer, resulting in many new friendships. Tom's jovial and outgoing personality led to numerous deep and lasting friendships. Tom's belief was that a stranger was a friend he had yet to meet.

Tom is survived by his two sons, Thomas Harman II of Morgantown and Timothy Harman (and spouse Ruxandra) of Brasov, Romania, two grandchildren, Matthew Benger (Allaysha) of Morgantown and Janeanne' Benger of Olympia, Washington, and seven great grandchildren. Tom is also survived by his best friend and brother, Ed (Pat) of Morgantown, sister Libby (Chuck) of Weirton, many in-laws that he loved as siblings, and numerous nieces and nephews. Special thanks to Sisters in Law El White and Becky Bebout for their above and beyond love and support during this trying time.

In addition to his parents, Tom was preceded in death by the love of his life, his wife Cynthia (Bebout), and sister Kitty (Mike) McLaughlin and other deeply loved in-laws.

In accordance with Tom's wishes cremation services are being provided by Hastings Funeral Home. A public memorial service may be held at a later date.
