Thomas Swisher

Thomas Wayne Swisher, 67, of Morgantown passed away Thursday, October 25, 2012 at his home.He was born September 23, 1945 in Morgantown the son of the late Willie H. and Evelyn R. Mundell Swisher.Tom graduated from Morgantown High School class of 1963. He retired from C & P Telephone Company after 30 years of service and also drove school bus for Monongalia County Board of Education from 2004 to 2007. Tom was a very active member of the Goshen Baptist Church and was a member and trustee for the Odd Fellows Lodge #10.He is survived by his devoted wife of 32 years Charlotte F. Branney Swisher, her sons, James D. Ward III and wife Joyce, John D. Ward and companion Vicki Snider, Jeffrey D. Ward and wife Melanie all of Morgantown and Jason D. Ward and wife Cathy of North Carolina grandchildren, Megan Ward, James R. Ward, Joseph D. Ward, Tommy Garrett and Jaeleah C. Ward one sister, Carol Renner and husband George mother-in-law, Wanda Branney sisters-in-law, Wendy Alke and companion Larry Lawson, Claudette Harrison and husband Vernon brother-in-law, Charles Branney, Jr. and wife Joyce, and sister-in-law Linda Kisner Swisher. He is also survived by his aunt, Lottie Mundell, several nieces, nephews, cousins, his church family and many friends.In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one brother, Freddie H. Swisher in 2008 and his father-in-law, Charles A. Branney, Sr., brother-in-law, Roger Brian Alke, nephews, Devon Alke and Fred Swisher.Cremation services provided by Hastings Funeral Home. A visitation will be held at the Goshen Baptist Church, 1070 Goshen Road, Morgantown, Saturday, Nov. 3, 2012 from 9:30am to the time of the memorial service at 11:00am with Pastor Dan Meadows officiating.
