Velma Loretta Mcmillen Shaffer

Velma Loretta McMillen Shaffer, 83, died peacefully at the home of her son in Longwood, FL on Monday, October 26, 2015. Born in 1932 in Morgantown, WV, she was married to the late Loran Shaffer. She grew up in Morgantown, married in 1953 and moved to northern Virginia in 1958. She had lived in Manning, SC since 1998. She was a loving wife and mother and will be dearly missed. She loved gardening, playing bridge, shopping and eating out with her friends and family. She worked at several insurance agencies in northern Virginia before retiring. She is survived by a son, Michael R. Shaffer (Ann) of Longwood, FL; three daughters, Suzanne M. Spicer (William) of Arlington VA, Sally S. Dempsey (B. Todd) of Centreville, VA and Amy E. Shaffer (Kevin Weiss) of San Jose, CA; and nine grandchildren. A grave side memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday June 4, 2016 at the Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Morgantown, WVa.
