Viola Faye Hofer

Viola Faye Lowe Hofer, 96, of Morgantown, passed away on Tuesday, February 17, 2026.

She was born in Morgantown on December 11, 1929, daughter of the late Lonnie P Hofer and Pearl Janet Pennington Lowe.

She worked for the WVU Athletic Department for many years before starting a career with the United States Postal Service, where she was promoted to Postmaster for the Cassville Post Office. She eventually retired from the postal service. She was a Charter Member of the Mountaineer Woman's Club, and a member of the Post Office Auxiliary.

She is survived by her daughter, Shelia Hofer Voorhees, and a sister, Lelia Pearl Lowe Sarver, and her children, Debra Sarver and John Sarver of Cleveland; 6 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Faye was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Ralph Adolph Hofer; and two sons, Ralph August Hofer and Lonnie P. Wilhelm Hofer.

Friends and family will be received at Hastings Funeral Home, 153 Spruce St., Morgantown on Saturday, February 21st from 11:00am until the time of the funeral service at 12:00pm with Pastor Craig Falkenstein officiating.

Interment will follow at Lawnwood Cemetery.
