Virginia Wamsley

Virginia Wamsley, 94, of Morgantown, died on Saturday, August 20, 2016 at her residence . Mrs. Wamsley was born in Elkins on January 30, 1922, and was the daughter of the late Willis L. and Viola Feather Weese. She is also preceded in death by her husband, Ben W. Wamsley, Jr. She was a longtime member of Spruce Street United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women’s Group. She was also a 57 year member of Chapter B, PEO Sisterhood and a life member of the auxiliary of Mon General Hospital. She retired from Huntington National Bank in 1986 with 15 years of service. She is survived by one daughter, Ruth Ann Clark and her husband, Captain Robert E. Clark, II (Ret.) USN of Dover, DE; one sister, Pearl Smith of Marlington, WV; one daughter in law, Rita Wamsley Gum of Weston, WV; six grandchildren, Debbie Nitz of Beverly, WV, Rebecca Corbin of Kingwood, WV, Sarah Marsh of Buckhannon, WV, Bryan Wamsley and wife Laura of Narrows, VA, Lt. Andrew R. Clark and wife Sarah of San Diego, CA and Ensign Wesley S. Clark of Norfolk, VA; and four great grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, she is also preceded in death by her son, Ben W. Wamsley, III. The family would like to thank her caregivers and Dr. Lobban and Dr. Arthurs for the excellent care that they gave Virginia. Friends and family will be received at Spruce St. United Methodist Church, 386 Spruce St., Morgantown, on Saturday, August 27th from 10 AM until the time of the funeral service at 11 AM with Rev. Timothy Allen officiating. A Committal Service will be held at Maplewood Cemetery in Elkins on Saturday at 2:30 PM.
