Walter Lyle Wymer

Walter Lyle Wymer, age 85, of Morgantown, West Virginia passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday, November 1, 2022. Born June 25, 1937, in Morgantown, he was the son of the late Elmer and Elizabeth (Shuller) Wymer.

Walter grew up tending to the Wymer family farm and working at the Hotel Morgan. After graduating from Morgantown High School, he served in the United States Army, Troop E, 150th Armored Cavalry Regiment stationed at Fort Meade, MD.

Walter began his career in the late 1960's as a general laborer with Consolidation Coal Company. He quickly progressed to a regional safety inspector and retired at age 55. Walter enjoyed traveling the country with his wife Ginger in their motorhome and spending the winter months in Daytona Beach, FL. Walter also was an avid reader and lover of Western films.

Walter is survived by son, Michael L. Wymer; stepdaughters, Rachel Friend and Shona Krolczyk; and grandchildren: Joshua, Emma, and Noah Krolczyk, and Dominique Friend.

In addition to his parents, Walter was preceded in death by his loving wife, Virginia (Green) Wymer; his sister, Eleanor Burges; and brother, James Wymer.

Friends and family will be received at Hastings Funeral Home, 153 Spruce Street, Morgantown, on Monday, November 7, 2022, from 11 a.m. until the funeral service at 12:30 p.m. with Pastor Dan Meadows officiating. Entombment will follow at Beverly Hills Memorial Gardens Mausoleum.
