William Harold Johnson

William Harold “Wick” Johnson, 80, passed away on Wednesday, November 4, 2026 at Mon Health Medical Center. He was born January 2, 1946 to the late Jess Johnson and Louise (Mayle) Johnson.

Wick was a proud veteran, serving his country honorably during the Vietnam War. Following his service in the military, he began a dedicated career spanning more than 30 years with the West Virginia Department of Highways. Additionally, Wick was a familiar face on game days in Morgantown, spending many years working home football and basketball games for West Virginia University.

Wick is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Carolyn Johnson; his best friend, Virgil Hoopengarner and his family, whom Wick treated as if they were his own family; as well as many of their close friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jess and Louise Johnson.

Friends and family will be received at Hastings Funeral Home, 153 Spruce St., Morgantown on Wednesday, November 11th from 10:00am to 12:00pm. At the conclusion of the visitation, all are invited to the graveside committal service at Beverly Hills Memorial Gardens in Westover with Pastor Dan Meadows officiating.
