William Joseph Lough, 66, passed away on Tuesday, September 1, 2026. He was born on August 9, 1960 to the late Lester and Juanita "June" (Hartzell) Lough.
William was a U.S. Army veteran who served with distinction as an Airborne Ranger in the Persian Gulf War. He exemplified resilience, bravery, and a strong love for his country.
Following his honorable discharge, William transitioned to a successful career as a commercial truck driver defined by the same hard work and commitment that characterized his time as a Ranger.
When he wasn’t on the road, he enjoyed spending time outdoors tending to his garden or enjoying a peaceful afternoon fishing. He also loved cheering on the Mountaineers during WVU football and basketball seasons.
William is survived by his wife, Traci Ashcraft Lough; sons, William Major and Clarence Major (Teri); grandchildren, Riley Major, Haley Major and Ava Major; sister, Leslie Lough; niece, Christina Rice; nephew, Jeremiah Ingold; and several cousins.
The family would like to thank the staff at Majestic Care of Manchin for the excellent care they provided.
