William Wayne Pysell, 80, of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully on September 5, 2025, due to cardiac complications.
Born on August 26, 1945, in Morgantown, West Virginia, Bill was the beloved son of Mary Loya Pysell and Harold Franklin Pysell, both lifelong residents of Morgantown. He carried with him the strong values and work ethic of his Appalachian upbringing throughout his life.
Bill was a devoted husband, father, and man of faith. He was a member of the Russian Orthodox Church and found comfort and strength in his religious beliefs throughout his life. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, his parents and his brother, Paul Franklin Pysell.
He retired from Ford Motor Company after many dedicated years as a Production Engineer, where he was respected for his problem-solving skills, precision, and professionalism.
Outside of work, Bill was a man of deep passions. A licensed private pilot, he found great joy and freedom in the skies. Flying was more than a hobby—it was a lifelong love that brought him peace and exhilaration. He also had a special place in his heart for Great Danes, whose loyal companionship brought him constant joy over the years. Whether in the air or on the ground, Bill found comfort in the simple pleasures of life: a quiet day outdoors, a classic car show, or time spent with those he loved.
He is survived by his four children: William Pysell, Jr. of Arizona; Shelley Pysell of Indiana; James Pysell ; and Shannon Shupp of Ohio. He is also survived by his sisters, Linda Zinn of Morgantown, West Virginia, and Lesa Kelly of Valrico, Florida, as well as many cherished nieces and nephews.
Friends and family will be received at Hastings Funeral Home, 153 Spruce St., Morgantown, on Friday, September 19th from 10:00 AM until the time of the Panachida service at 12:00 Noon with Father Jon Emanuelson officiating. Interment will follow at Beverly Hills Memorial Gardens in Westover.
In lieu of flowers, the family encourages donations in Bill’s memory to a heart health foundation, a local animal rescue—especially those supporting large breeds—or an aviation nonprofit of your choice.
