Wilma Lea Himes

Wilma Lea Himes, 89, of Morgantown, died Friday, December 23rd at Mon General Hospital surrounded by her loving family. She was born March 2, 1927 in West Union, WV, a daughter of the late Glenn Marion and Lessie Olive (Knight) Pierce. She was a member of Spruce Street United Methodist Church and was a graduate of Jane Lew High School. She loved spending time with her family and previously enjoyed camping with her husband. Mrs. Himes was a creative person and was talented at crocheting and ceramics. She was a wonderful cook and made the best bread in the world. Mrs. Himes is survived by her children, James Lee Himes of Michigan City, IN, Shelia Kay Harris and her husband Larry of Morgantown, and Donald Lynn Himes and his wife Julia of Morgantown; grandchildren, Shawn Douglas Harris, Jeffery Allen Himes and his wife Erica, and Melissa Lynne Himes and her partner Randi Smith; great grandchildren, Evie Mae Himes and Brayden Austin Harris. “Aunt Lea” is also survived by several nieces and nephews whom she loved along with her pet dog Buddy. In addition to her parents, she is also preceded in death by her husband, Austin B. Himes, Jr.; and siblings, Nina Margaret Gregory, Marion Dale Pierce, and Minnie Katherine Loughman. Friends and family will be received at Hastings Funeral Home, 153 Spruce St., Morgantown, on Thursday, December 29th from 3-8 PM and Friday, December 30th from 10 AM until the time of the funeral service at 11 AM with Rev. Dr. Timothy Allen officiating. Interment will take place at the Greenlawn Masonic Cemetery in Harrison County.
