Winton Don Hogan, 81, of Morgantown, was called home on Friday, March 25, 2016 at Monongalia General Hospital with his loving wife and family by his side. He was born in Monterville, WV on August 2, 1934, the son of the late Parker L. and Annie Elizabeth Ruckman Hogan. Don is survived by his loving wife and companion of 40 years, Betty Hess Hogan; a sister, Erma Pack of Worthington, OH; and a brother, William G. Hogan of Chicora, PA. He is also survived by nieces and nephews, Garrett Pack, Jason Hogan, Michelle Cernick and her husband Michael, Kermit Hess and his wife Illa, Linda Digman, and Diana Barnett and several great nieces and nephews. Don and Betty were married in 1975 at the Riverside Apostolic Church of Morgantown by the Rev. David White. Don was a member of the Monterville Methodist Church, a 1954 graduate of Tygart Valley High School, and a graduate of Pittsburgh Institute of Aeronautics. He enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1954 and had basic training in Geneva, NY. Don was an airplane mechanic in the Strategic Air Command in Wichita Falls, TX and completed his tour of duty in Puerto Rico. In 1963 he was employed by Daimler Chrysler Corporation of Ohio until his retirement. Don’s interests involved the restoration and collection of antique cars. He spent his life at his home place farm and the Ruckman farm where he spent many working hours sustaining the properties. He loved to travel with his family, and loved gardening and flowers. In addition to his parents he is also preceded in death by his sister, Sarah Conrad and her husband Crawford Conrad and brother in law, Jerry Pack. The family would like to give a special thank you for the caring and kindness shown in our time of need to great niece, Shaylena and great nephew, Clarence Gene Hess. The family will receive friends at Hastings Funeral Home, 153 Spruce Street, Morgantown, on Tuesday, March 29 from 3-5 and 7-9 PM and on Wednesday, March 30 from 1 PM until the time of the service at2:00 PM with Rev. Edward Ghuste officiating. Burial will follow at the Cedar Gove Cemetery in Mt. Morris, PA. Send condolences online at www.hastingsfuneralhome.com
